Andra was a midlife entrepreneur who didn't like at the thought of being on camera. Like many, she thought video was out of her league, and a well-meaning relative’s bad advice only made it worse.
But with the right guidance, she was transformed from camera-shy to confident, and her story shows how you can too.
When I met Andra, she was the typical entrepreneur who wasn’t set up to captivate on camera. She was camera-shy, with an unflattering virtual environment so she relied on an amateur videographer, only to be more frustrated because his advice was off, not matching the professional parameters she needed. Plus, it left her dependent on him, feeling stuck.
Determined to break free, Andra tried shooting a video on her own, but mistakes piled up. With my help, however, we pulled it through using editing tricks, but the real change came when I gave her “live direction” in a new shoot.
We not only set up her environment to look professional, but I coached her on-camera delivery to be engaging and the result was a great video.
Her confidence was boosted and then well-respected colleagues complimented her video presence, boosting her confidence even more. Her productivity shot up, and her in-person presentations even felt more confident and fun. The frosting on the cake? Andra gained the power to do videos herself, no longer relying on others’ wrong advice opening her up to wanting to do more videos.
The problem? Camera shyness and bad advice can trap you in unpolished videos that push audiences away.

Here's one tip: Don't turn on the camera. Just have a conversation with “the wall” behind the camera. No script, no objective. Just talk. You're body memory will release the resistance so you can then get the right help to do more.
